Choosing Between 9 Different Fixture Finishes

As you probably know, it’s the finishing touches that make any bathroom or kitchen one to be remembered and enjoyed for years to come. Included in this, are the finishes you pick for faucets and fixtures. I’ve put together a list of the top 9 most popular. Of course, there are always others if you are so inclined to search, but for the most part, this list should help you decide what’s right for you.

Chrome – This finish being the most common, and probably the most popular, it works well with all styles of homes. It is inexpensive and very easy to maintain. The only downside of this finish is that it shows water spots and fingerprints. If this bothers you, simply keep a microfiber towel near the faucet, and you have solved any of these issues.

Brushed Nickel

Brushed Nickel – Working well with most all styles of decor, this finish is easy to clean and maintain. The main problem found with this finish is that it does not go well with stainless steel. If stainless is prevalent in your remodel or build, you may want to choose something else.

Polished NickelPolished Nickel – Again working with most all types of design and decor, polished nickel is another great option if you are looking for a faucet that is easy to clean and maintain. Downside? It is a bit more expensive that the ones mentioned above and, similar to the brushed nickel, it is hard to match finishes precisely.

Oil Rubbed BronzeOil Rubbed Bronze – This finish has been around quite a while, gaining popularity in the late ’90’s. Oil Rubbed Bronze goes well with traditional homes, is easy to match and will not show water spotting. It’s a bit more expensive than the polished chrome, but still a great choice.

Polished Brass

Polished Brass – A thing of the past? Possibly. It does look best in vintage style homes. However, it is rather durable, although expensive, and polished brass is polished brass as far as matching.

satin brassSatin Brass – Traditional, Modern, and Contemporary homes fit this finish the best. Although you will not see fingerprints and watermarks, satin bronze is hard to find and a bit expensive.

copperCopper – If you’re picturing a farmhouse or Tuscan setting, you are correct. This beautiful finish also provides a natural antibacterial property, but it definitely is more high maintenance than the other finishes.

satin bronzeSatin Bronze – And last, but not least, is our satin bronze finish which is traditional or Mediterranean in style. This finish is durable, not showing water spots but is hard to find and on the pricier end of the cost scale.

If you are particular about finish and looking for a specific, unique finish, I would recommend California Faucets and Newport Brass. And, of course, Kohler is always a great option in faucets.

Not to overwhelm, but one other thing I should mention is that some companies will also offer multi finish faucets like the ones below. So basically, whatever it is that makes you happy and creates your dream remodel, you can find at Crawford Supply! Stop in today!
